The 2016 American Public Transportation Association Rail Conference was held June 19-22, in Phoenix, AZ and attracted hundreds of experts in the transportation industry who shared effective strategies, experiences, and solutions.  TWI Director, Jess Guerra, participated in a panel discussion titled “Maximizing the Multigenerational Workforce”.

Today’s transit industry includes three generations of workers, with Generation Z soon to be among them.  Generational differences in learning and working styles and requires multiple strategies to ensure workforce development efforts are effective with all workers.  Capitalizing on knowledge/skills transfer possibilities between the generations is also a priority.  Director Guerra provided concrete examples of strategies currently being implemented by Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and ways colleges and employers partner to strengthen the multigenerational workforce.
